Marion Bartoli of France clinched her fourth career title after beating China’s Li Na 6-4, 6-3 at the inaugural Monterrey Open on Sunday. This exciting match, held in the Mexican town of Monterrey, lasted for 1 hour and 20 minutes.

The 13th-ranked player in the world was contesting her ninth career final while Li, a former top 20 player, was coming back from a knee injury that sidelined her for several months. The Chinese player’s improvement can be clearly seen after Li defeated top seed Polish player Agnieszka Radwanska during the first round.

“I feel really good about how I played the whole week. I had some tough matches, not just today but also in the semifinals. They were both two sets but tough,” Bartoli said after the match.

Bartoli was on a four-final match losing streak which included a runner up finish in 2007 Wimbledon Open. This time she made sure that the losing streak won’t continue.

In the doubles match, Italian player Mara Santangelo and Nathalie Dechy of France won the doubles title via a 6-3, 6-4 win over Czech duo Barbora Zahlavova Strycova and Iveta Benesova.
