World number one Rafael Nadal did his trademark trophy biting after clinching the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California on Sunday.

Nadal beat British world number four Andy Murray in about an hour and twenty minutes (6-1, 6-2). The gusty winds in the Indian Wells Tennis Garden challenged both of the players’ strategies with neither serving up an ace at the entire duration of the game.

The Spaniard managed to avenged his losses from the British player including the finals loss in Rotterdam earlier this year and the semifinals in last year’s U.S. Open. However, Nadal was quick to clarify that he’s not into revenge but rather winning the title.

“Andy was the only big top player I didn’t win against this year, so it’s an important win for me. But the most important thing for me is to win the title, not the opponent,” Nadal was quoted as saying after the match.

This is Nadal’s 13th Masters title and second Indian Wells victory. He won the title in 2007 but lost in the semifinals last year to defending champion Novak Djokovic. At the age of 22, Nadal already amassed 33 ATP titles.
