Serbia’s Davis Cup team advisor Nikola Pilic has reportedly resigned from his post as tournament director of an inaugural ATP event that will be held in the country later this year.

According to this report, the friction between Pilic and Novak Djokovic’s father Srdjan reached its boiling point when the latter conducted a press conference a couple of weeks ago without consulting with him.

“A couple of weeks ago he held a press conference in Belgrade without previously consulting with me and spoke of things he has no place or capacity to talk about,” Pilic was quoted as saying.

Despite the conflict, Pilic said that this will not affect his relationship with Novak Djokovic, currently the world’s third ranked player and part of Serbia’s Davis Cup team.

There’s still no announcemet as to who will take Pilic’s place as tournament director. The Serbia Open will take place in Belgrade from May 2 to 10 this year. The winner will get about €73,000 in prize money plus 250 ranking points. The Serbia Open is a Masters 250 event.
