Andy Murray closes in on world’s top three with SE Open title win

Andy Murray SEO title Andy Murray believed that his improved fitness program – including a pre-season training in Miami – paid off, earning himself his third career Masters title.

The 21-year old Briton won the ATP Sony Ericsson Open title on Sunday, beating 2007 champion Novak Djokovic in two sets (6-2, 7-5).

The Serbian was clearly not on his fine form in the match, piling up 43 unforced errors and calling on his trainer during the second set – which the Briton was quick to point out was not a reason why his concentration was distracted.

“If you look at the next game or so, he started rushing me. He started coming forward more, and he hadn’t been doing that,” Murray said after the match.

“He went for broke a little bit and tried to shorten the points. He hit the ball well. I struggled a little bit, but it wasn’t just because of the timeout he took,” he added.

The title win places Murray just 170 points behind Djokovic (currently the world number 3) in the ATP rankings.

Murray is the first and only player so far this year to win three ATP tour titles. The British number one also reached the Indian Wells final last week, losing to world number one Rafael Nadal.
