ITF agrees to reduce Sweden’s Davis Cup fine

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) officials have agreed to reduce the fine they imposed against the Swedish Tennis Federation in relation with the latter’s decision to hold its Davis Cup tie against Israel without spectators in the city of Malmo last March.

The fine has now been reduced to $5,000 from $25,000. However, the ITF said that Sweden still has to settle the $15,000 which would have been raised from gate receipts.

Malmo government decided not to have fans watch the tie between the two nations due to its belief that political rallies and untoward incidents would have taken place.
