Jelena Dokic’s father gets 15-month prison term

The father of Australian tennis player Jelena Dokic was reportedly sentenced to 15 months in relation to charges that he made threats to the Australian ambassador to Serbia.

Damir Dokic was found guilty of “unlawful possession of weapons” and “endangering the security” of the ambassador. The weapons were confiscated by the police in his home.

The aforementioned sentence was confirmed by his lawyer Bosiljka Djukic, who stressed that the punishment was very severe. She added that they will file an appeal.

Damir Dokic reportedly said last month that he would blow up the car of ambassador Clair Birgin if the official would not stop negative write-ups concerning him. This led to his arrest.

His daughter, Australian Open 2009 quarterfinalist Jelena Dokic revealed in an interview with Australian media that he used to beat her. He eventually admitted doing so.
