Swiss tennis venue to be named after Roger Federer

An international tennis venue in Basel, Switzerland will be named after 14-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer as a way to honor the tennis great for his achievements.

According to reports, Basel sports director Peter Horwald announced on Monday that the St. Jakobshalle venue will undergo renovation and once the changes have been made, it will be called Roger Federer Arena.

On Sunday, Federer clinched his first French Open title to complete a career Grand Slam. He also tied Pete Sampras‘ long-standing record of 14 Grand Slam singles titles.

The tennis venue hosts the Swiss Indoors tournament where Federer is a three-time defending champion. He’s expected to participate this November to defend the title.
