The “Best Job in Malaysia” contest launched

One lucky blogger/writer will have a chance to rub elbows with some of the world’s best tennis players at the inaugural Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur 2009, a $947,750 ATP World Tour 250 tennis tournament which will take place from September 28 to October 4.

The organizers of this event announced the launch of the “Best Job in Malaysia” contest during the tournament press conference held last Friday, June 26 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Tournament Director Nick Freyer said: “This is the chance of a lifetime for one young person who has a passion for marketing and promotion and sport. There is nothing like being hands on and being part of the whole experience and then being able to tell people out there about the experiences, and at the same time play a part in promoting one of the biggest annual sporting events in the country.

The contest is open for Malaysians 17 years old and above. Interested participants need to go to the official tournament website (http://www.MalaysianOpenTennis.com) to register and read the rules as well.

Out of all the applicants, the organizers will then choose ten finalists who’ll be interviewed personally. The grand winner will be announced by August.

The winner will then undergo a five-week apprenticeship which includes an opportunity to explore all the aspects of organizing a world-class tennis tournament. He/ She will also be blogging  on the tournament website within the aforementioned period.

At the conclusion of the five-week apprenticeship, he or she will receive $2,500 personal development grant.

High profile ATP players who have confirmed their participation in this inaugural event include Fernando Verdasco (ESP), Fernando Gonzalez (CHI), Nikolay Davydenko (RUS), French Open 2009 finalist Robin Soderling (SWE), Gael Monfils (FRA), David Ferrer (ESP) and Kei Nishikori (JPN).
