Andy Roddick pulls out of Indianapolis tennis tourney

World number five Andy Roddick has pulled out of next week’s Indianapolis Tennis Championships due to continuing rehabilitation of his right hip flexor injury, the same injury that prevented him from competing at the Davis Cup quarterfinals last weekend. The U.S. team lost to Croatia.

Kevin Martin, the Indianapolis tournament director, said that he understood the Wimbledon 2009 runner-up’s decision to withdraw from the event. He’s now hoping to get the commitment of world no. 17 James Blake to receive the final wild card before the announcement of the draw.

The qualifying matches have already started.
