Kim Clijsters eyes fulltime WTA Tour comeback

Former world number Kim Clijsters made headlines earlier this year when she announced her comeback in the women’s tour. The 26-year old Belgian hopes that she still has what it takes to compete at the WTA Tour the whole year round aside from her duties as a mother and wife.

Clijsters will be participating in this week’s World Team Tennis (WTT) competitions at St. Louis and Philadelphia. After that, she’ll be competing in three hardcourt tournaments including the U.S. Open, the lone Grand Slam title she won prior to her retirement two years ago.

“I’ve been training like a professional, with my mindset to coming back as a full professional. I’m just going to see after the U.S. Open how the whole trip went and just see which things I have to adjust,” Clijsters said last Friday.

“Because it’s a new experience for me, as well, traveling with a family and just being back on tour and everything. It’s going to be completely different than it has been when I was on tour for 10 or 12 years in the past,” she added.
