Rafael Nadal targets Rogers Cup return

Rafael Nadal is reportedly targetting his return to tennis limelight this August at the ATP 1000 Rogers Cup in Montreal, Canada where the Spaniard is the defending champion.

Nadal, who did not defend two grasscourt titles including Wimbledon, relinquished the top ranking to Swiss rival Roger Federer this week. Federer is currently enjoying a 20-match winning streak (winning Madrid, Roland Garros and Wimbledon).

Nadal’s spokesman Benito Perez Barbadillo told Daily Mail that the Spaniard will start training in the next few weeks for this hardcourt tournament. The Rogers Cup begins on August 10.

The Spaniard is a two-time Rogers Cup champion, defeating Andre Agassi in 2005 and Nicolas Kiefer last year.
