Rogers Cup 2009: Rafael Nadal starts training for Montreal comeback

World number two Rafael Nadal has started training for a major comeback in next month’s Rogers Cup in Montreal after being sidelined for almost two months due to knee injury.

The Spaniard lost the number one ranking after pulling out of Wimbledon where he was the defending champion. His rival Roger Federer won his 15th career Grand Slam title in the said grasscourt tournament and eventually reclaimed the top ranking.

The last match Nadal played was in the French Open fourth round where he suffered a stunning defeat from eventual finalist Robin Soderling of Sweden.

The Spaniard is the defending Rogers Cup champion.
