She may be the world number one but everyone knows that Dinara Safina is the underdog in the upcoming semifinal match against American third seed Venus Williams. The obvious reason is that the Russian has never made it past the third round in her previous appearances here in Wimbledon while Williams have clinched five singles titles and two runner up finishes at this grasscourt Slam.

Williams currently leads the head-t0-head match record against Safina (2-1). Their last meeting was at the claycourt tournament in Rome earlier this year with the Russian winning that match. But grasscourt is certainly Williams’ forte and she’s expected to win this match.
