ATP stars converge in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur for the inaugural Proton Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur 2009 tournament. The tournament, which was launched by Malaysian Prime Minister Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Razak, will take place at the Putra Stadium.
This $947,750 ATP 250 tennis tournament features two top ten players. Here are the top eight seeds for the singles event:
(1)Nikolay Davydenko [RUS], (2)Fernando Verdasco [ESP], (3)Robin Soderling [SWE], (4)Fernando Gonzalez [CHI], (5)Gael Monfils [FRA], (6) Tomas Berdych [CZE], (7)David Ferrer [ESP] and (8) Lleyton Hewitt [AUS].
Other tennis stars featured in this tournament are former Australian Open finalist Marcos Baghdatis and Richard Gasquet.
The winner will receive a generous $154,000 paycheck plus 250 ATP points.
