Number nine seed Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark created a record for her country as being the first tennis player (man or woman) to reach a Grand Slam singles semifinal. She could go one step further if she manages to outplay Belgian player Yanina Wickmayer.

Wickmayer has had a surprising run the past two weeks considering that she previously held a 1-6 career record in Grand Slam tournaments. Her compatriot Kim Clijsters, making a return to the tour after a 2-year absence, is at the other side of the draw. There could be a final between two Belgians if they can overcome their powerful opponents. The match will take place at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
