Andre Agassi admits using crystal meth 12 years ago in autobiography

Former world number one Andre Agassi admitted that he used crystal meth 12 years ago in his upcoming autobiography. He revealed that when he failed the drug test that time, he lied to the tennis authorities saying that he just “accidentally” drank from a soda spiked with the drug prepared by his assistant named “Slim.”

“Then I come to the central lie of the letter. I say that recently I drank accidentally from one of Slim’s spiked sodas, unwittingly ingesting his drugs. I ask for understanding and leniency and hastily sign it: Sincerely,” Agassi wrote.

“I feel ashamed, of course. I promise myself that this lie is the end of it. The ATP reviewed the case—and threw it out,” he added.
The incident was believed to have taken place prior to the resurgence of his tennis career where his ranking jumped from 141 to the world’s top ten after winning the French Open in 1998. He reclaimed the number one ranking in 1999 after winning his second career US Open title.

Agassi retired three years ago. His book is slated for release on November 9.
