The 2009 Shanghai ATP Masters 1000 tournament takes place this week without the world number one, Roger Federer, who opted to rest prior to the ATP World Tour Finals. However, this development hardly diminished the prestige of this tournament as eight of the world’s top ten players are taking part in the event.
Led by world number two Rafael Nadal, this $5.25 million tournament is as competitive as ever, with several players within range of clinching the remaining slots for the season-ending championships.
