Heineken Open: John Isner claims title

John Isner of the United States won his first career ATP Tour title after he defeated Arnaud Clement of France 63 57 76 to win the Heineken Open. The tall American made 22 aces and only committed two doubles faults in the match.

Meanwhile, Marcus Daniell of New Zealand together with Horia Tecau of Romania won the doubles title after the duo defeated Bruno Soares and Marcelo Melo of Brazil 75 64.

With the news of Gilles Simon’s withdrawal at the Australian Open which begins on Monday, Isner moved up to a seeding as 33rd and will now face Andreas Seppi of Italy in the first round in Melbourne.
