Asian Games 2010 Basketball: Team Pilipinas beats Kuwait to keep medal hopes alive

Smart Gilas Team Pilipinas made a successful return at the Asian Games Basketball event after beating Kuwait 76-69 in the qualifying rounds of the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China. The event took place last Saturday at Guangzhou Gymnasium.

Team Philippines had to sit out of the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar following the suspension from FIBA. During the past four years, the Team Pilipinas has composed a powerful squad composed of amateurs and professionals that can compete with basketball powerhouses such as South Korea, Iran and China.

Team Pilipinas will face competitors within Group F composed of Chinese Taiper, Qatar, Japan, defending champion Iran and the winner of the other qualification match between India and Afghanistan.
