After suffering an early exit in the team tennis competition, the Philippine team dug deep in the men’s doubles and singles competition but fell short in the medal round. In men’s third round in singles, 14th seed Cecil Mamiit lost to 3rd seed Go Soeda of Japan 6-4, 4-6, 3-6. Compatriot Treat Conrad Hey also lost to a Japanese player, Tatsuma Ito, with a score of 4-6, 4-6.
In men’s doubles quarterfinals, Mamiit and Huey lost to Taiperi’s HH Lee an CH Yi 6-7, 4-6.
