ATP World Tour Finals 2010: Roger Federer beats David Ferrer

World number two Roger Federer easily beat David Ferrer 6-1, 6-4 during the opening night of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals at The O2 in London and in the process notched his 30th career win at this prestigious year-end.

Compiling a 30-7 record in this eight-man tournament, Federer has had more success than the other seven contenders in the field. He’s a four-time champion having won the title in 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007. He reached the semifinals last year (losing to eventual champion Nikolay Davydenko.).

In doubles, Poles Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski began their campaign in a positive note by beating Lukas Dlouhy and Leander Paes in Group A.
