Bryan brothers secures year-end number one ranking in doubles for sixth time

Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan of the United States have secured the year-end number one ranking in the ATP Doubles Team category for the record sixth time. This was declared after the duo reached the 11th final of 2010 at the Swiss Indoors Basel tournament which they eventually won.

The 32-year old twins have won nine Grand Slam doubles titles together including the Australian and US Open titles this year. They also clinched four ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles in 2010 (Rome, Madrid, Toronto and Cincinnati). The are currently the record holders in terms of titles amassed at 63.

“Finishing No. 1 is always our ultimate goal when we start any year and to achieve this feat again feels great, especially with the quality of doubles teams in our sport,” said Bob.
“I tip my hat to [Daniel] Nestor and [Nenad] Zimonjic who have had another amazing year. For three years, two teams have clearly separated themselves from the field and it’s this rivalry that forced us to find ways to improve. I’m sorry to see them split but wish them luck in their new partnerships. I give special thanks to our coach, my fiancĂ©, our trainer, family, and fans. For their support, I’m forever grateful,” He added.

Mike added, “The 2010 season has been a special one for so many reasons but we’re always most proud of ending the year on top. We’re still looking forward to ending the year well and hopefully defending our Barclays ATP World Tour Finals title in London.”

The brothers have secured the year-end number one ranking in doubles in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010.
