Cebu City to host Philippines vs Japan Davis Cup game in March 2011
By Tennis Guru on Nov 15, 2010
It has been confirmed that the Queen City of the South will host the highly anticipated match-up between Philippines vs Japan in next season’s Davis Cup. Slated from March 4 to 6, the Filipinos will have the homecourt advantage as the players face the formidable Team Japan.
According to statistics, Philippines has not beaten Japan in Davis Cup for the last 15 years. Japan drubbed the Philippines 5-0 in Osaka earlier this year and the Filipinos will certainly avenge that defeat here.
The matches will take place at the five-star Plantation Bay Resorts in Mactan, Cebu. The luxurious resort will set up a brand-new claycourt in order to host the players, coaches, players and fans.
Currently based in Cebu, I’m looking forward to see this event personally. Philippines is bidding to make it to the World Group for the first time since 1991 and 2011 might just be the year!

Please be informed that Plantation Bay Resort & Spa is not located in Cebu City. It’s in Lapu-Lapu City.
