Without a doubt, the interest at the Australian Open 2011 has increased a lot especially since world number one Rafael Nadal is in Melbourne to achieve another record – to hold all four Grand Slam titles simultaneously. Nadal has won the past three Grand Slam titles starting at the 2010 French Open. Last year, he was forced to retire in his quarterfinal match at the same venue. However, he’s as fit as ever this year and most experts believe that he’s a man to beat – that, including defending champion Roger Federer.
Nadal currently holds an 11-3 head-to-head match lead against David Ferrer. Their last meeting was at the 2010 Rome Masters which the world number one won in straight sets. That was a claycourt event. It might be a different story at the hardcourts.
