Both Kim Clijsters and Vera Zvonareva have made a remarkable comeback in professional tennis, albert in contrasting fashion. Clijsters retired from the game a few years back to start her own family and when she returned, she had added two more Grand Slam titles on her resume (US Open 2009 and 2010). This time, the Belgian star has a chance to increase her Slam haul to four but needs to defeat Russia’s Vera Zvonareva in the Australian Open 2011 semifinals.
Zvonareva, on the other hand, had suffered injuries the past few years which prevented her from unleashing her full potential in the game. However, she had proven herself a force to reckon with, having reached two Grand Slam finals the past year and reaching a career high of number two. Whoever wins this semifinal battle will also get the number two ranking next week.
