Australian Open 2011 champion Kim Clijsters will spend her 19th career week at the top of the women’s singles rankings by Monday after reaching the semifinals of the Open GDF Suez 2011.
“I am happy to regain No.1 here in Paris as I feel like it’s close to home in Belgium,” Clijsters said.
“I’m proud I have achieved this in my second career and as a mom. I hope I can now go on and win the tournament,” she added.
Clijsters further cemented her place after making another step further by reaching the Paris tournament final and will face Petra Kvitova for the title this Sunday.
