Djokovic looks to dominate

Novak Djokovic has risen to number two in the world rankings this season, courtesy of a stunning start to the hard court season. The Serbian has picked up consistent titles since the start of the year, with the Australian Open the standout amongst titles in Dubai, Indian Wells and Miami. The 23-year-old’s domination this year has been evident by his unbeaten run that goes back 24 matches and has included confidence boosting victories over main rivals Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Andy Murray.

The question for Djokovic now is whether or not he can maintain this extraordinary level of form into the clay and grass court seasons, where Nadal and Federer will be looking to put the Serb back in his place. His impeccable start to the season has given Djokovic the confidence he needs to be able to add to his two Australian Open titles and the Wimbledon tennis betting will undoubtedly put him in with a chance of adding another slam to his collection.

He is well aware that getting some positive results over world number one Nadal on the Spaniard’s favoured clay-court will be a big ask but there is confidence now where there perhaps wasn’t in the past.

He said: “I now believe I can beat anyone on any surface, although beating Nadal on clay remains a big ask and the biggest challenge of all.”

“I have also matured as a player and a person. I feel more confident and more consistent because I am capable of holding my own against the world’s best players under any circumstances.”

Djokovic has recently been laid low with a knee problem
, his absence allowing Nadal to stroll to two titles in Monte Carlo and Barcelona. The injury isn’t serious though and the Serb will be back in action soon, looking to continue his form into the summer, where he’ll be more than a decent shout at both the French Open and Wimbledon – the title Djokovic craves the most.
