Novak Djokovic credits diet changes to fitness improvement

World number two Novak Djokovic has credited his nutritionist for changing his diet regiment that led to noticeable improvement on his fitness.

In an interview at the Serbia Open, his home event in Belgrade, the tennis star said that they’ve discovered his allergic reaction to “some food ingredients like gluten.” He explained that he won’t be able to eat bread, pizza and pasta. With these limitations, he was able to lose more weight which led to better movement at the tennis courts.

No one seemed to doubt Djokovic’s revelation as his performance this 2011 ATP World Tour season remained spectacular at this point. The Serbian star captured his second Australian Open title and followed it up with title wins in Dubai, Indian Wells and Miami. He remained undefeated this year.

Djokovic is the top seed of the Serbian Open 2011 which is currently ongoing. He won the title in its inaugural year in 2009.
