Serbia joins elite Fed Cup World Group

The never-say-die attitude of Serbian former world number one Jelena Jankovic and doubles partner Alexandra Krunic could have made the difference for them to mount a major comeback to win the fifth and deciding rubber at the Fed Cup 2011 World Group play-off showdown against Slovak Republic.

Down 2-6, 1-5, it seemed that the Slovak duo of Daniela Hantuchova and Magdalena Rybarikova are headed for victory. However, after more than three hours of play, the match ended with the Serbian team sealing the victory 2-6, 7-5, 9-7.

“We kept fighting and never gave up and somehow we managed to end up as winners,” said Jankovic.
