Claycourt specialist David Ferrer had an easy time beating Serbia’s Viktor Troicki in the quarterfinals of the Monte Carlo Masters 2011 tournament with a score of 6-3, 6-3. He will face Austria’s Jurgen Melzer in the semifinals after the latter upset world number three Roger Federer with a straight sets victory as well 6-4, 6-4.
Ferrer currently has a 3-2 head-to-head series lead over Melzer. However, Melzer had won the past two encounters – at the Paris Masters and Roland Garros 2010.
