A Premier WTA event takes place in Charleston, South Carolina from April 4 to 11, 2011. The WTA Family Circle Cup 2011 is played on green claycourts of the Family Circle Tennis Center. With its rich history, this prestigious tournament’s past champions include tennis greats Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova and Martina Hingis.
The top seed of the WTA Family Circle Cup 2011 is Indian Wells 2011 champion Caroline Wozniacki. The current world number one exited in the semifinals of Miami Masters which gave her an opportunity to practice more for the claycourts. Second seed is defending champion Samantha Stosur of Australia.
