Andy Murray recovers in time for Mutua Madrid Open

World number four Andy Murray is all set to compete at this week’s Mutua Madrid Open 2011, an ATP World Tour 1000 tournament. The British tennis star has not played for the past two weeks due to an elbow injury.

Murray withdrew from the Barcelona Open after suffering the aforementioned injury at the Monte Carlo Masters 2011 semifinals against eventual champion Rafael Nadal.

Murray won the 2008 Madrid Open when it was still an indoor hardcourt event. The prestigious event became a claycourt tournament in 2009 and is considered a crucial warm-up competition for Roland Garros 2011 which takes place later this month.

The British world number four has struggled with his game in the past few months after losing the Australian Open 2011 final against Novak Djokovic, not to mention the continuous questions as to whether he’ll win a Grand Slam title. He’s 0-3 so far in Grand Slam finals.
