Andy Murray shares optimism despite losing Rome Masters semifinal to Djokovic

British world number four Andy Murray was just a few points away from ending the impressive unbeaten run of Serbia’s Novak Djokovic this season but it wasn’t just meant to be after he lost in the semifinals of the 2011 Rome Masters tournament. Despite the loss, Murray looked into the brighter side of things.

“I think I’m playing better than ever before on clay. I’ve got the right combination of how to play and there are a few things I can definitely do better.”

Murray, who just celebrated his 24th birthday, said that if he manages to “play my best tennis and prepare mentally and physically,” he could win the French Open.

The British tennis star had a slew of disappointing early round losses for the past few months following his final run at the Australian Open 2011.

“I’ve definitely made mistakes getting ready in the past but I do feel now going into the French and Wimbledon that I am going to play my best tennis,” Murray was quoted as saying.
