Champions Series to be relaunched on May 3, 2011

A newly reformatted and expanded Champions Series circuit is scheduled to be launced on May 3, 2011. Tennis icons John Mcenroe, Jim Courier, Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi will headline the Champions Series circuit which will feature one-night tournaments in twelve cities in the United States this fall.

The Champions Series circuit will feature tennis champions over the age of 30. These players will compete for ranking points and cash prizes similar to the ATP World Tour season. Each Champions Series season will last over a five week period.

“The Champions Series is the perfect platform for me and the other players to satisfy our competitive cravings,” said series founder Jim Courier.

“At the same time we will also be participating in top flight events that will help grow the sport of tennis in many US markets which lack big-time professional tennis,” he added.

“The revamped Champions Series format will energize fans with one-night powerhouse events featuring some of the greatest athletes to ever play the sport of tennis,” said Jon Venison, Founding Partner of the Champions Series.

“Our focus on a US-based circuit is beneficial to both our fans and corporate partners, making it easier to follow the Champions Series over a five week season,” he added.
