French Open runner-up Samantha Stosur ready to take next step

Australia’s Samantha Stosur is the country’s biggest hope to end the 31-year wait for female Grand Slam tennis champion from Down Under.

Stosur was just one win from ending this record last year but lost to Italy’s Francesca Schiavone at the final of the 2010 Roland Garros. This time she’s ready to take the next step of hoisting her maiden Grand Slam singles trophy.

The 2011 French Open may just be Stosur’s best chance of finally realizing her goal, with powerhouse player such as Serena Williams, Venus Williams and four-time champion Justine Henin out of action.
