Injury forces David Nalbandian to skip French Open 2011

Argentina’s David Nalbandian will miss the Roland Garros 2011 tournament after suffering an illness while recuperating from a recent hernia operation and a muscle injury.

Recent injuries have prevented a full-time comeback for the former world number three. He’s currently ranked number 24.

Nalbandian was a two-time semifinalist at the French Open, reaching these stages in the years 2004 and 2006.

The tennis star’s spokesperson said that Nalbandian may possibly compete at Queen’s Club, one of the warm-up grasscourt tournaments for Wimbledon. The Argentine reached the final of this prestigious Grand slam tournament in 2002.
