Kim Clijsters pulls out of Italian Open 2011

World number two Kim Clijsters announced on her official blog today that she won’t be taking part at next week’s Italian open or any other tournament prior to the Roland Garros 2011.

The Australian Open 2011 champion is currently focusing on improving her health in time for French Open which begins on May 22. She injured her ankle at a wedding last month.

The two-time French Open finalist said that she’s taking it “day by day” at this point.

“We are taking it day by day. I will not in any case play any tournament in May. We will focus on being ready for Roland Garros. I can only say that we hope everything goes well and that I have trained sufficiently to be in Paris,” she wrote.
