Novak Djokovic maintains perfect 2011 match record, wins Serbia Open

World number two Novak Djokovic maintained a perfect 2011 match season record on Sunday after winning his hometown event – the Serbia Open. The 2009 champion defeated Feliciano Lopez 7-6, 6-2 to reclaim the title in Belgrade.

The Australian Open 2011 champion has won 27 straight matches this season and is now a frontrunner to qualify for the prestigious Barclays ATP World Tour Finals 2011, a year-end competition among the world’s top eight singles players.

His perfect record this season so far is translated to five title-wins (Australian Open, Dubai Tennis Championships, Indian Wells, Miami Masters and Serbia Open).

Djokovic is scheduled to take part at this week’s Mutua Madrid Open 2011 where he could face rival Rafael Nadal in the finals.
