Roland Garros 2011: Roger Federer easily beats Tipsarevic to earn fourth round berth

World number three Roger Federer progressed to the fourth round of the Roland Garros 2011 tournament after beating 29th seed Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia 6-1, 6-4, 6-3. For the seventh consecutive year, Federer has made it to the fourth round or better in this claycourt Slam event.

Tipsarevic could only admire the service game of the 16-time Grand Slam champion during the post-match interview.

“I don’t know anyone ever hit more lines from first serves than he did today. And I’m not saying that it has anything to do with luck. It was just big, good, precise serves,” Tipsarevic said.

Federer is not getting as much attention in this tournament with world number two Novak Djokovic getting the limelight this time since the latter is on an unbeaten streak since the start of this season. Federer has made it to four finals in a row at the French Open from 2006 to 2009. It was in 2009 where he finally won the title to complete a Career Slam.

The Swiss star’s next opponent is compatriot Stanislas Wawrinka who staged a huge comeback from two sets down to beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France in five sets.
