Andre Agassi, venture capital firm to spearhead charter schools project

Eight-time Grand Slam champion Andre Agassi has partnered up with a real estate venture capital company to create an investment fund that will finance projects such as the building of charter schools.

Agassi, who retired from professional tennis in 2006, is currently operating an award-winning charter school in Las vegas, Nevada. He has always stressed that the growth of charter schools in the country is hindered by lack of funds and facilities as well.

According to reports, Canyon Capital Realty Advisers has agreed to work with Agassi in this venture. The firm is a $20 billion real estate investment company located in Los Angeles. The funds are said to finance more than 70 charter school buildings within the next four years. Additionally, these buildings will be environmentally-friendly with solar power to be utilized.
