Roland Garros 2011 French Open Men’s | Women’s Doubles Final Matches Set

The Roland Garros 2011 French Open Men’s and Women’s Doubles Final Matches have been set and both of these matches will feature a seeded and unseeded doubles team.

French Open 2011 Women’s Doubles Final: Andrea Hlavackova – Lucie Hradecka vs Sania Mirza – Elena Vesnina

The unseeded Hlavackova – Hradecka duo had been impressive this past fortnight, eliminating several seeded players along the way including the defending Wimbledon and US Open champions Yaroslava Shvedova and Vania King in the semifinals. In order to win the title, they’ll have to get past seventh-seeded Elena Vesnina and Sania Mirza. The Russian-Indian team had been performing well this season, having won the Indian Wells and Charleston. The duo beat fourth-seeded Lisa Raymond and Liezel Huber in the semifinals.

The finalists have played once prior to this tournament, at the Indian Wells 2011 tournament where Mirza and Vesnina won.

French Open 2011 Men’s Doubles Final: Max Mirnyi – Daniel Nestor vs Juan Sebastian Cabal – Eduardo Schwank

It would have been a top-seeded vs second-seeded French Open men’s doubles final had it not been for the South American duo Juan Sebastian Cabal and Eduardo Schwank. Playing for the first time as a team, the duo beat top-seeded Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan, to set up an unexpected final encounter with veterans Daniel Nestor and Max Mirnyi.

Nestor and Mirnyi have several Grand Slam titles and will certainly be the favorite to win this encounter but they’re not going to underestimate their opponents considering that Schwank and Cabal have beaten the most successful doubles team on tour.

The ladies doubles final match will take place on Friday, June 3 while the men’s doubles final match will be played on Saturday, June 4.
