Tennis legend Ivan Lendl will be imparting his knowledge of the sport via a tennis academy that he will be opening by August this year at Port Royal Racquet Club in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. This project was made possible with Lendl’s partnership with Junior Golf Corporation, the group behind the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy (IJGA) located in southern Beaufort County. The new academy will be named Ivan Lendl International Junior Tennis Academy (IJTA). The tennis academy is open for players from grades five to twelve.
“I am extremely excited to come to Hilton Head and open this academy. For juniors who love the game, love working hard and love challenges, we can promise a great experience on and off the court,” Lendl said in a statement.
Lendl had accumulated eight Grand Slam singles titles and spent 270 weeks as world number one player.
Recruitment for aspiring players is said to be going on with Lendl spending more travel time to get students not just from the United States but from abroad as well.
