Wimbledon 2011: Australian Bernard Tomic reaches quarterfinals

Australian teenager Bernard Tomic continued his impressive run at Wimbledon 2011 by beating former semifinalist Xavier Malisse 6-1, 7-5, 6-4 to reach the quarterfinals. As per ITF data, Tomic is the youngest (18 yrs., 255 days) quarterfinalist at Wimbledon since Boris Becker’s 1986 Wimbledon win (18 yrs., 226 days).

In the previous round, Tomic beat world number five and two-time French Open finalist Robin Soderling.

Tomic is a qualifier in this year’s Wimbledon which means he has played more than four matches. He will next face the winner of the Novak Djokovic vs Michael Llodra Wimbledon 2011 Fourth Round match.
