Wimbledon 2011: Australia’s Bernard Tomic to hire another coach aside from dad eventually

Australian teenager Bernard Tomic revealed that he may eventually hire another coach outside of his family without specifying when or who he prefers. The 18-year old, who made waves at the Wimbledon 2011 after reaching the quarterfinals as a qualifier, said that his father John has been his coach ever since.

“As soon as I have done well and made myself the best of a player as I am, then I think my dad can slip out,” Tomic said during the press conference.

“But until then, he’s the one that’s coached me and helped me out and made me the player who I am now. In time obviously it’s going to be like that. But until I become as best of a player as I am, which I think only he can help me until then, it could be one year away or four years away. I don’t know,” he added.
Tomic lost in the quarterfinals at the All England Club against world number two Novak Djokovic. By reaching the final eight at this grasscourt Slam, Tomic’s ranking is expected to crack the world’s top 100, eventually making him the new number one male tennis player in Australia.
