Wimbledon 2011: Kate Middleton may present trophy to winners

The Duchess of Cambridge may become the Royal representative at the 2011 Wimbledon, that is, if she’s successfully convinced by former British number one Tim Henman.

Speculations surfaced that Kate Middleton, a known tennis fan, may be the one to hand over trophies to the Wimbledon 2011 champions. The trophy presenting role was once done by Princess Diana, Middleton’s late mother-in-law. Henman is reportedly the one brokering the deal as he has close affiliations with the Middleton family. The four-time Wimbledon semifinalist is a member of an Alle England Club committee.

The former world number four, who retired from professional tennis in 2007, is also receiving media mileage these days as reports surfaced that he’ll be receiving a salary totaling 200,000 British pounds for his two-week stint as a Wimbledon 2011 commentator for BBC network. The network has the exclusive rights to air the Wimbledon 2011 tournament.
