Wimbledon 2011: Maria Sharapova beats Chinese opponent to reach quarterfinals

Former world number one Maria Sharapova reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals after beating Peng Shuai of China in straight sets. The score was 6-4, 6-2.
The fifth-seeded Russian, the 2004 Wimbledon champion at the age of 17, took a 5-4 lead in the first set after breaking her opponent’s serve. Since then, she won seven straight games to take control of the match.
Sharapova, a three-time Grand Slam champion, will next face the winner of the Caroline Wozniacki vs Dominika Cibulkova Wimbledon 2011 Fourth Round Match.
