Five-time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams failed to avenge her defeat last year against Tsvetana Pironkova after the latter once again prevailed in their fourth round match in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
Earlier on Monday, Venus’ younger sister Serena crashed out of the tournament after being beaten by Marion Bartoli of France. Both sisters are making a comeback in the women’s tour after a long absence.
