Belarussian fourth-seeded Victoria Azarenka became the first female player to reach the Wimbledon quarterfinals this year after beating Russia’s Nadia Petrova 6-2, 6-2 on Monday.
Azarenka also reached the final eight in this grasscourt Slam two years ago where she was beaten by eventual titlist Serena Williams.
Azarenka will next face the winner of the Tamira Paszek vs Ksenia Pervak Wimbledon 2011 Fourth Round match.
