2011 Citi Open: Shahar Peer to face Petrova for title

Top-seeded Shahar Peer of Israel advanced to the 2011 Citi Open final after beating Austrian third-seeded Tamira Paszek 3-6, 7-6, 6-4. The match lasted more than three hours.

The other semifinal match featured second-seeded Nadia Petrova of Russia playing against Irina Falconi of United States. Petrova prevailed in three sets 1-6, 6-1, 6-3.
This will be the sixth Shahar Peer vs Nadia Petrova encounter with the latter winning all their past five meetings. Petrova is seeking her 10th career WTA title while Peer is aiming for her sixth.
