2011 Legg Mason Tennis Classic: Andy Roddick pulls out due to injury

American Andy Roddick has pulled out of the 2011 Legg Mason Classic, scheduled to begin on August 1 due to abdominal injury.

The tournament officials announced this development on Thursday, stating that the former world number one injured himself while practicing. The injury was specified as Grade 2 strain (partial tear of abdominal muscle). Roddick won the Legg Mason Tennis Classic thrice.

Other players that pulled out of the tournament due to injuries include Sam Querrey, Lleyton Hewitt, Kei Nishikori and Milos Raonic.
Two top ten players will be featured in this tournament which is part of the 2011 US Open Series: no. 7 Gael Monfils and no. 9 Mardy Fish.
